Dr. Jean Beguinot

My main domains of interest cover a wide range of natural history items: vegetation science (especially phytosociology), animal science (in particular arthropods ethology and conchology), local and regional surveys of biodiversity. More specifically, I have special interest for creating mathematical tools dedicated to investigations in life science. My recent researches and publications deal mainly with : (i) arthropods ethology : restitution of ovipositing-female cryptic behaviour while selecting for host quality in leaf mining insects using appropriate mathematical model, (ii) conchology : analysis of geometrical constraints limiting morphospace occupancy in marine gastropods and bivalves, (iii) numerical extrapolation of incomplete inventories of biodiversity : general mathematical analysis of the species accumulation process during progressive sampling, leading to the selection of least-biased estimator of species richness.
